Business Tax - Pay Online

Online payment options for business taxes include the following:

CREDIT CARD PAYMENT: ACI Payments, Inc.

ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER (EFT): OHIO TREASURER OF STATE (TOS)

Credit/Debit Payment via ACI Payments, Inc.

The following business taxes are eligible to make credit card payments:

  • Employer Withholding
  • Sales & Use Tax
  • School District Employer Withholding

Please note, remitting a payment does not satisfy your filing requirement of the appropriate tax return.

In cooperation with the State of Ohio, ACI Payments, Inc. offers businesses the opportunity to pay taxes by telephone, over the Internet, or via the Ohio Business Gateway.

In order to process credit card payments, ACI Payments, Inc., the credit card service provider, charges a service fee of 2.5% (or $1.00, whichever is greater) on the amount of the transaction.

EASY PAYMENT VIA PHONE, INTERNET, OR THE OHIO BUSINESS GATEWAY

PHONE

To pay by credit card using a touch-tone telephone, call the toll-free number 1-800-2PAY-TAX (1-800-272-9829).  Enter Ohio's Business Tax Jurisdiction Code 6447 when prompted and follow the recorded instructions.

INTERNET

Employer Withholding Tax and Sales & Use Tax are payable by credit card over the Internet at the ACI Payments, Inc. website.

For telephone and Internet payments, you will be asked to enter basic information such as:

  • The type of tax payment you are making
  • The tax payment amount
  • Payer information
  • Your account or vendor's license number
  • Your TIN number
  • The reporting period
  • Your credit card information

The system will:

  • Tell you the total dollar amount of your payment including the service fee
  • Obtain approval of the charge
  • Provide you with a confirmation number.  Be sure to write down your confirmation number as record of your payment.

The credit card transaction will appear on your credit card statement.  The tax amount will be on one line and the service fee amount on a separate line.

OHIO BUSINESS GATEWAY

Business taxes (Employer Withholding, School District Withholding and Sales & Use Taxes) can now be filed and paid by credit card on the Ohio Business Gateway.

Once you have entered your filing and payment information into the Gateway system, it will:

  • Tell you the total dollar amount of your payment including the service fee
  • Obtain approval of the charge
  • Provide you with a confirmation number.  Be sure to write down your confirmation number as record of your payment.

The credit card transaction will appear on your credit card statement.  The tax amount will be on one line, and the service fee amount on a separate line.

For assistance, call the Gateway Help Desk at 866-OHIO-GOV (866-644-6468) and select the option of the next filing you need to make, even for general questions or help logging in.

The Help Desk is available Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (EST) excluding state holidays.

EFT (ACH Credit) Payment via Ohio Treasurer of State (TOS)

The following business tax types are eligible to use the Ohio Treasurer of State (TOS) website eft.tos.ohio.gov to register for ACH credit:

  • Pass-Through Entity (PTE) and Fiduciary Income Tax
    • NOTE: PTEs and fiduciaries enter the FEIN in both the Ohio account number box and the FEIN box on the registration page (Ohio PTEs and fiduciaries do not use an Ohio account number).
  • Sales, Use or Withholding Taxes
  • Municipal Net Profits
  • Municipal Taxes
  • MCF & KWH Tax
  • 911 Wireless Tax
  • Financial Institution Tax (FIT)
  • Severance Tax
  • Commercial Activity Tax (CAT)
  • Premium Insurance Tax
  • IOLTA
  • Motor Vehicle Fuel Taxes
  • Public Utilities Taxes
  • Cigarette/Cuyahoga Tax
  • Other Tobacco Products (OTP) Tax
  • International Fuel Tax (IFTA)
  • Petroleum Activity Tax (PAT) 
  • Streamlined Sales Tax

If no previous payments were made via EFT with the Ohio Treasurer of State, complete the EFT Agreement Form. The agreement form may be submitted by email to the TOS at eft@tos.ohio.gov, or faxed to (614)752-5377. Please allow 72 hours for an email response for authorization to register.

Once authorized, register for EFT payments at EFT Registration and select the appropriate tax form type from the drop down menu. After selecting a tax type, you will be prompted to enter the Ohio account number or Federal Identification Number (FEIN).
