Individual Income Tax: 2018 IT-1040 Tax Returns, by School District
Table Y-2 contains information from 2018 Ohio individual income tax returns categorized by school district as indicated by taxpayers on their returns. State law requires that Ohio income tax returns include a line on which taxpayers indicate their school district of residence.
A total of 5,662,438 Ohio individual income tax returns were filed for 2018 (April 15, 2019 filing deadline). Of these, 5,465,809 (96.5 percent) indicated a school district of residence.
For those tax returns that identified their school district of residence, the average federal adjusted gross income (FAGI) reported was $65,841 per return. The statewide average FAGI reported (inclusive of those that did not identify their school district of residence) was $87,564 per return. The Indian Hill Exempted Village School District in Hamilton County reported the highest average FAGI of all 612 school districts, with $435,288 per return. The lowest average FAGI was reported in East Cleveland City School District in Cuyahoga County, with $29,547 per return.

All figures shown in table Y-2 were compiled from returns filed for taxable year 2018 with the Ohio Department of Taxation as reflected in the system of record on the date the data was extracted from the system.
