April 28, 2005 - Columbus, Ohio - Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment
COLUMBUS, Ohio (April 28)-- A team of assessors arrives Saturday from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), to examine all aspects of the Ohio Department of Taxation Enforcement Division’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services, Deputy Tax Commissioner Fred Nicely announced today. The public is invited to offer comments Sunday via a toll-free telephone line.
Verification by the team that the Enforcement Division meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain re-accreditation – a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence, he said.
As a part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments Sunday by calling 866-227-0004 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The members of the team who will be assessing the Enforcement Division as well as taking comments are William R. Bleyle, team leader, and Richard A. Haake and James M. Yost, team leaders.
Telephone comments at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. A copy of the standards is available by contacting the Enforcement Division, 800 Freeway Drive North, Columbus, OH 43229. Local contact is Susan Kusan, Accreditation Manager, 614-466-6939.
Persons wishing to offer written comments about the Enforcement Division’s ability to meet the standards for accreditation are requested to write: Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 10302 Eaton Place, Suite 100 Fairfax, VA, 22030-2215.
