Welcome to Ohio eForms - Requirements and Troubleshooting Information

eForms

eForms were developed by the Ohio Department of Taxation as a free and convenient way for individual and business taxpayers to file tax returns electronically rather than on paper.

eForms are Adobe Acrobat PDF versions of some of Ohio's key tax forms that allow taxpayers to complete them electronically, much as they would with a pen and paper. Taxpayers can then print, save or submit the return directly to us.

 

This page contains the technical information taxpayers might need to get eForms running on their home or office computer. Troubleshooting tips will be posted here as well.

Hardware and software requirements for eForms and registration:

  • Adobe Reader 9.1 or greater is required for the PDF Fill-in forms. Please visit Adobe's Web site at www.adobe.com to download the latest version.
  • Browser requirements: You will need a computer with a standard browser and access to the Internet. The browser must be capable of 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. If you have Internet Explorer 8.0 on your computer, please make sure that you are using the latest version of Adobe Reader.
  • Session cookies must be enabled. The default settings for most browsers have session cookies enabled, so you will be able to use this site unless you have specifically modified this browser option.

Troubleshooting eForms

  • "Cannot save Form Information": Some Adobe Reader users might see the message "Cannot Save Form Information." If this happens, click "close" on the message. Users will still be able to save the form on their local computer or portable drive. This message appears because of an issue in the Adobe Reader product.

  • Mac OS Trouble Shooting Recommendations:

    (Note: All eForms, Mac or PC, require Adobe® Acrobat® Reader®. If you have an older version or have no Adobe Reader installed, please visit http://get.adobe.com/reader/ to download the latest version.)

    • Verify that your Mac computer has Adobe Reader 9.1or above installed.
    • Note: If you are able to open a PDF document that doesn’t necessarily mean that your Mac computer has Adobe Reader installed. Mac OS can open a PDF document without having the Adobe Reader installed, by using its internal Mac Preview program. But with this program, eForms will not work properly.
    • If you have an older version, we suggest that you uninstall it before installing the new version of Adobe Reader.
    • After installing the Adobe Reader as stated above, close this window to return to the eForms page.
